Laminates
Contender offers a complete range of both radial and cross-cut laminates for a wide range of applications. Our warp oriented laminates feature polyester, PEN, and aramid structural scrims supported by either warp or weft oriented off angle fibres.

For radial applications, the APEN range uses our Euro-PEN high-modulus polyester fibres for a dramatic increase in stretch performance over conventional polyester laminates. Twaron aramid fibre is used in the AK laminates for its low elongation and high strength properties for applications which put a premium on performance.

For laminate cruising sails, our ACL laminates combine the durable strength of polyester scrims with rugged taffetas for increased UV, flex, and chafe resistance for the cruising sailor looking for a performance improvement over conventional Dacron sails, but not wanting to sacrifice too much on durability.

Our patented MAXX laminates are unique fabrics incorporating multi-directional fibre arrays supporting the weft direction of the cloth. MAXX laminates are designed to be used in cross-cut sails. With fibres arrayed at multiple angles, MAXX laminates produce exceptionally smooth sails which hold their shape for seasons. The MAXX concept is offered in a wide variety of styles intended for the racer, club racer and cruiser.
