RBS Range
Epoxy “E-Glass” Battens
- Available in leech taper, compression taper (full thru), non-taper and reveres taper (special order only).
- Epoxy “E-Glass” battens are constructed using unidirectional ‘E’ glass fibers in a unique proprietary pulform process in which all fibers are pre-tensioned and aligned during the impregnation process using our specially formulated flexible epoxy resin matrix.
- This unique manufacturing technique makes for an extremely durable, virtually unbreakable batten that can be tapered down to .025″ less then 1mm on our custom CNC machine, creating an extremely soft tip on our leech battens without the fear of breaking.
- The RBS range of ‘E’ glass battens consists of four widths; 10, 15, 19 and 25 mm with a variety of different thicknesses and lengths to choose from.
T-700 “Carbon Bar” Battens
- T-700 “Carbon Bar” batten is constructed using the same unique process as our ‘E’ glass battens using a very high modulus (18 million) aircraft grade 700 series carbon fiber for maximum stiffness for the cost.
- Produced with RBS’ proprietary flexible epoxy resin matrix, this makes for a very durable, strong and very stiff batten proven in the Southern Ocean on the fleet of the recent Volvo Ocean Race.
- The T-700 batten is offered in five widths 10, 15, 19, 25, and 38 mm in a variety of different thicknesses and lengths to choose from.
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) Sheet
- PET X-Ply, a two ply with 60% E glass in a 0 degree and 90 degree orientation. Same flexibility in both directions. X-Ply is 0.54 mm thick and the weight per linear meter (1.2 m wide x 1 m long) is 1 kg.
- PET Tri-Ply, a three ply with 60% E glass with one 0 degree and two 90 degree fibre orientation or two 0 degree and one 90 degree depending on orientation. Tri-Ply is stiff in one direction and flexible in the other. Tri-Ply is 0.74 mm thick and the weight per linear meter (1.2 m wide x 1 m long) is 1.5 kg.
Both X-Ply and Tri-Ply can be sewn, glued, or moulded.
Applications for both materials include but are not limited to, corner reinforcement, headboards, clewboards, grommet reinforcement and other multi-layer applications.
RBS Tensioners and RBS End Caps
- Standard end caps and batten hole caps available to suit the whole range.
- Rocket tensioners available for 10 mm, 15 mm and 19 mm battens.
